HOW TO GROW IRIS

When to plant - For best results, Iris should be planted in July, August or September.

Where to plant - Iris need at least a half day of sun. We plant our Iris in raised beds as they like good drainage. Iris are very hardy and will thrive in well-drained soil.

How to plant - Iris should be planted so the tops of the rhizomes are exposed and the roots are spread out facing downward in the soil. Most people will plant their Iris too deeply.

Distance Apart - For best results plant your Iris between 12 to 24 inches apart. Closely planted Iris will need to be divided sooner. Iris planted too close together will suffer with their bloom production. Divide your Iris every 3-4 years.

Watering and fertilization - Like most of your garden plants, this will depend on the soil in your area. Iris are very hardy and forgiving, but a light application of bone meal and 6-10-10 in the early spring and a second application about a month after bloom will reward you with good growth and bloom.

ALL IRIS ARE $5.00 each and can be added to an existing order of daylilies and perennials or ordered separately.
