As I have gotten older, I have misplaced and mislabeled and lost the names to a lot of my amaryllis. Several years ago I discovered how easy it was to pollinate the amaryllis and grow them from seed. Talk about something getting out of control. They are very easy to grow indoors. I would advise to plant the bulb in a 6-8" pot. You can use a normal potting soil. Leave 1/3 of the bulb above the soil line. The pot can be placed close to a window for indirect light. Water sparingly until the sprout is well out of the bulb. If you would like to order some amaryllis, I can assure you that you will receive large healthy bulbs.

I have many amaryllis that I don't have pictures of yet, so If you are looking for a special one, email me, and I may have it.

HOW TO GROW AMARYLLIS

When to plant - Plant the bulbs about 8 weeks before you wish Them to bloom. The best time to plant is October until the end of April.

Where to plant - Amaryllis are great to grow as an indoor house. Plant to add color during winter months. The bulb will need direct light and a sunny place to grow. Usually near a window is a perfect spot.

How to plant - Soak the bulb and roots in lukewarm water for a few hours before planting. Plant the bulb almost to the neck and firm down the soil after planting. This will help set the bulb in place. Remember that the stem is long and the flowers are large. The bulb needs to be firmly set into the soil.

Watering and fertilization - Place the bulb in a warm place with direct light. The ideal temperature is between 68 to 70 degrees. Water sparingly until the stem appears, and you can increase the amount of water as more growth appears. Generally bulbs will flower in about 6 to 8 weeks time after planting.

After bloom - To prepare your bulb to bloom again it will need a rest period of at least 6 weeks. Cut the old foliage off and remove the bulb from the pot. After the flowering period is over. Store the bulb in a cool dark place for its rest period.

I have lost the names to a lot of my amaryllis but I do have nice healthy bulbs.
